Thompson Faulk_Edge Of The USA

...Faulk is releasing his second solo album, a followup to first solo disc "This Is Life," which was released back in 2016. He's recorded both with Matt Zutell of Coast Records. For the new album, "Edge of the USA," Faulk has worked on improving his song layouts, subject matter and storytelling. "I found myself surrounded mostly by the guys of Human Resources in the studio for this album, as well as Charlie Thompson on lap steel guitar," says Faulk. "Being around that much talent in the studio really pushed me to bring my best songwriting to the table just so I could feel confident being in the room." - Kalyn Oyer / Charleston Scene (below)

Human Resources_Champagne

Champagne (final album artwork).jpg

"Champagne" is Human Resources' second full-length disc and there's no denying it's a quality soundtrack. The followup to 2014's "En Route" and 2015 EP "Pizza Dreams" explores the boundaries of synth pop, from bubbly guitar licks and frisky keys to falsetto vocals over a catchy creamsicle symphony.

From the neopolitan nostalgia of intro track "Expectations," laced with icy spoonfuls of reverb and caramel-coated synth vibrations, to the hypnotic, swirling cotton candy composition of "Sri Lanka," the disc oozes sentimentally sweet electric energy." - Kalyn Oyer / Charleston Scene (below)

Chris Wilcox_ Songs For Myself

Screen Shot 2018-05-01 at 3.16.03 PM.png

"The title for this EP comes from the mindset that Chris found himself in after meeting with several major publishers in Nashville, who mostly told him that his sound didn't fit their "formula". The suits told him that his songs were too long, too chordsy, and just didn't work for them. Instead of cutting back his sound to fit inside their box, Chris used their rejection as fuel for his creative fire and came up with Songs for Myself." - Chris Huber / Extra Chill (below)

Dead Swells - "By The C"

"Dead Swells, a Columbia band started with some demos that singer/songwriter Paul Nederostek recorded at Archer Avenue Studio. Three of the songs on the five-piece indie psych rock band's debut EP were already complete before an actual band was even formed.

Now, Dead Swells— vocalist and guitarist Paul Nederostek, guitarist Adam Lee Haltiwanger, keyboardist Luke Reeves, bassist Ben Moody and drummer Joseph Lansburg— is coming out with a new disc by the end of the summer and dropping a single to keep things fresh." - Kalyn Oyer/Charleston Scene (below)

Chris Wilcox_Captiva

captiva-chris-wilcox.jpg

"When Chris Wilcox first wrote the opening lines to his new single, "Captiva", he had in mind a family vacation spot on Florida's North Captiva Island (featured in his "Drive" music video). As he continued writing the song, he realized the song was more about Charleston than it ever was about North Captiva Island. Charleston is the place where Chris first learned who he was as a person, where he formed roots and learned how to be a man.

In "Captiva", Wilcox explores a common theme in his music: growing up, or at least trying to, without allowing yourself to forget about where you came from. The difference with "Captiva" is not only a continued maturation in the Chris Wilcox sound, but also some sheer production value that sets this song apart from anything that he's recorded in the past." - Chris Huber, Extra Chill (linked below)

The Give & The Take_Mercy Me

mercy1 (1).jpg

"Charleston band the give & the take provides piano-driven melodies mixed with gritty rock n' roll. We're happy to premiere their newest song "Mercy," recorded with Matt Zutell at Coast Records.

This personal and powerful track encapsulates the continuous inner questioning of why things are happening to us, especially bad things. It evolves into personal accounts as singer/songwriter and keys player Charlotte Laird works through her own experiences and feelings." - Kalyn Oyer, Charleston Scene, Post and Courier (Linked Below)

J. Reynolds_Fire & The Flood

JReynolds-Cover-800.jpg

For singer-songwriter J. Reynolds, the release of Fire & Flood has been all about timing.

“This whole project was a lesson on God’s timing,” says Reynolds from his home in western New York State. “Honestly, I think it’s the first time I truly trusted him with something like this—these songs, the recording, the release—and just let go of my own agenda.”

When asked what brought him to this place, Reynolds is quick to cite the hardship that he’s experienced in life. “It’s really because of trials in my personal life,” he says. “I had no choice but to give this project to him from the start. Which isn’t that what a worship album should be about anyway?”

who is Mr. Rosewater?_Self Titled

Mr. Rosewater.jpg

"Any music enthusiast knows that rock is a feeling, not a genre. The young and tortured souls of the Charleston, SC based band, Mr. Rosewater, tackle this essential characteristic in the simple strum of a guitar. Their ancient soul sound and broken-hearted melodies could bring any man to church screaming at their sins. Their words wrap a delicate trail of cigarette smoke around your heart and lose you in their poetic chapters. Each song marks a new verse in a lifetime of songs that are our lives. Get lost in another reality with these guys and let rock take over. Relive your past with the future of rock in Mr. Rosewater."
